PEER Collaborative Peer Mentoring Workshop and Unconference

Dates: June 17-18, 2015 in Seattle, post-ASEE

Are you a junior faculty member, recently tenured faculty member or research staff person who is primarily evaluated on their engineering education research?  The PEER Collaborative is a small but growing community of people in a similar situation who peer mentor each other in engineering education research matters.

The 2015 PEER Collaborative National Workshop is scheduled for Wednesday (evening) & Thursday, June 17-18, 2015, immediately following the ASEE Annual Conference in Seattle, WA.

Virgina Tech Department of Engineering Education Open Houses

October 17, 2014 and November 7, 2014


The Department of Engineering Education at Virginia Tech will be hosting two open house events for prospective PhD students.  Please share this with people that you think might be interested in our degree program.  The first open house will be on October 17th and the second on November  7th.  Prospective students will have the opportunity to learn about our doctoral program, application process and research opportunities, meet current graduate students and faculty, and attend our weekly seminar event.  The seminar speaker on October 17th will be Dr. Rochelle Williams, Educational Research and Assessment Manager in Professional Services at ABET.  Her talk is titled: Assuring Quality: The Evolution of Assessment in Engineering Education.  The guest speaker on November 7th will be Dr. Cathy Charmaz, Professor of Sociology and Director of the Faculty Writing Program at Sonoma State University.  Her talk is titled: Using Grounded Theory in Qualitative Research.

Purdue University School of Engineering Education Open House

October 29-30, 2014


Open House for Prospective Graduate Students:Registration is now available for the Open House.


Interested in doctoral studies in engineering education at Purdue University? Attend our open house and find out what the School of Engineering Education - home of the country's first academic program in this growing field - has to offer you. During this two-day program, you can:

  • sit in on a research seminar  
  • meet doctoral students currently enrolled in our program
  • talk one-on-one with faculty in your area of interest
  • tour our state-of-the-art facilities in Neil Armstrong Hall of Engineering
  • Plan on arriving mid-afternoon on October 29 to check-in and get acquainted with some faculty members and students. October 30 is set aside for you to talk one-on-one with specific professors, have a Q&A with the chair of the Graduate Program, learn about the Engineering Education Graduate Student Association and attend one of our weekly research seminars.
